Set Up Dial-Up Networking in Windows 95 & 98

Now you're ready to set up Dialup Networking to connect to international Online.
1) Double click on the My Computer icon.


2) Open up the Dial-Up Networking folder, and Then double click Make New Connection.


2) Type in International Online or IOL where it asks you to name the new connection.


Then click Next
3) Type in the Closest Local Access phone number for your area, include your area code with the telephone number.

Then click Next.
4) Then click the Finish button.
Even though windows will congratulate you at this point, you're not finished yet



Configure Your Dialup Connection
Now using the RIGHT mouse button, click on the new IOL icon you created


Select properties with the LEFT mouse button.
Click the Server Types tab. (Or button on older versions of windows.)


The Type of Dial-Up Server should be set to "PPP Internet, Windows...". Uncheck Logon to network, you only need Enable software correction checked.

Under the Allowed Protocols section, you should only have TCP/IP checked. Uncheck NetBEUI and IPX/SPX.


Configure TCP/IP (If Needed)
Now click on the TCP/IP Settings button.
Leave Server assigned IP address selected.
Leave Server assigned nameserver address selected.
Leave Primary and Secondary WINS with all 0s.
Check, Use IP header Compression.
Check, Use default gateway on remote network
Now select OK, and then select OK again.





Get Ready To get online!

Type in your username and password, check the save password box and click Connect. After you connect, you can open up your web browser, email and other applications.
